Youths in Nigeria: Implications for Peace and Development

Abstract:

The state of unemployment among youths has become a critical and alarming issue in the whole world and Nigeria in particular. This article therefore, reviews the state of unemployment among youths in Nigeria with impact of curriculum reform structure on job creation and a way forward towards this predicament. Findings from review indicate that the situation is indeed worsening despite the curriculum reform structure geared towards job creation. A great deal of research has indicated and attributed this problem to poor curriculum structure and implementation, poor policy amongst others. This has great implication to economic development, peace and security in the nation. However, several ways forward were highlighted in areas of training, implementation, and paradigm shift in curriculum, and policy formulation.
