PREFACE

This research work is to appraise the contributions of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) to cultural promotion and preservation in Nigeria. For the purpose of this work, this work is broken into chapters, starting from chapter one which is the introduction of the topic of the research, statement of the problem that motivated this research, the research questions that guided this study, research objectives was used to study the contributions of NICO , research methodology aimed at appraising the contributions of NICO to cultural promotion and preservations in Nigeria, significance of the study help to ascertain and appraise NICO contributions to cultural promotions and preservations in Nigeria, scope of the study covers the activities of NICO headquarters Abuja, limitations of the study clarified the difficulties encounters during this study and the clarification of concepts.

Chapter two concentrated on the literature review which includes theoretical review theoretical review, empirical review and theoretical orientation which help to explain the relationship between culture promotion and preservation by various authors.Chapter three focused on the background information of NICO, vision, overview, mandate, vision, mission, objectives of the Institute, Management and Departments of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) and Cultural institutions in Nigeria.

Chapter four is about data presentation and discussion of the study. This chapter presents the achievement of NICO to culture promotion and preservation, challenges of NICO in cultural orientation promotion and preservation in Nigeria since inception to 2017, and way forward. Finally is the last chapter that deals with the summary, conclusion of the study and recommendation for further research.
