Abstract
This study conducts a discourse analysis of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s speeches to explore the linguistic and rhetorical strategies employed in his public addresses. The analysis focuses on identifying the themes, narrative structures, and persuasive techniques used by Governor Fintiri in communicating with his audience. Utilizing a qualitative research approach, the study examines a selection of speeches delivered by Governor Fintiri during key events and public addresses. The findings reveal that Governor Fintiri effectively employs various discourse strategies such as ethos, pathos, and logos to establish credibility, evoke emotions, and present logical arguments. Additionally, recurrent themes such as governance, development, and social unity are prominently featured in his speeches, reflecting his political agenda and leadership style. The study highlights the importance of discourse analysis in understanding political communication and provides insights into how political leaders use language to influence public opinion and achieve their objectives. This research contributes to the field of political discourse analysis by offering a detailed examination of Governor Fintiri’s rhetorical techniques and their impact on his audience.
