Abstract:

This study investigates the effect of different concentrations of salt stress on the growth of Guinea corn (Sorghum bicolor), an important cereal crop with widespread cultivation in diverse agro-ecological zones. The experiment involves subjecting Guinea corn plants to varying concentrations of salt stress in a controlled environment. Different concentrations of salt solutions will be applied to the soil, simulating salinity levels commonly found in soil affected by natural and anthropogenic factors. The growth parameters to be assessed include plant height, leaf area, biomass production, chlorophyll content, and other relevant morphological and physiological characteristics.

The objective is to elucidate the plant’s response to salt stress and identify potential thresholds beyond which growth is significantly impaired. This research aims to contribute valuable insights into the adaptability of Guinea corn to saline conditions, providing essential information for farmers, agronomists, and policymakers involved in crop management and sustainable agriculture.
