Abstract:
The endangered language of the Ikah people in Nigeria reflects the complex dynamics influencing linguistic diversity. As globalization, urbanization, and sociolinguistic shifts permeate the community, the traditional Ikah language faces threats to its vitality and continuity. This study explores the factors contributing to the endangerment of the Ikah language, examines its current status, and proposes strategies for language preservation. Through a combination of fieldwork, interviews, and linguistic analysis, this research aims to contribute to the understanding of endangered languages in Nigeria and inform language revitalization efforts. The findings highlight the urgency of preserving the Ikah language to safeguard the cultural heritage and identity of the Ikah people.
