IMPACT STUDY OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS ON ENTREPRENEUR DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA
Abstract:
The pursuit of sustainable development has become a global priority, and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a comprehensive framework to address environmental, social, and economic challenges. In the context of Nigeria, a country with a rapidly growing population and diverse entrepreneurial landscape, understanding the impact of SDGs on entrepreneur development is crucial. This study aims to investigate how the implementation of SDGs in Nigeria influences the growth, resilience, and social responsibility of entrepreneurs.
The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from a diverse sample of entrepreneurs across various sectors and regions in Nigeria. The quantitative analysis focuses on assessing the correlation between entrepreneurs’ activities and the specific SDGs, examining how the SDGs have influenced business practices, innovation, and access to markets.
Additionally, qualitative interviews with entrepreneurs, government officials, and other stakeholders will provide in-depth insights into the perceived impact of SDGs on entrepreneurial ventures. Through thematic analysis, the study will explore how entrepreneurs align their business strategies with the SDGs, identify challenges encountered in the process, and assess the role of government policies and support mechanisms.
The expected outcomes of this study include a nuanced understanding of the ways in which sustainable development initiatives, as encapsulated in the SDGs, shape the entrepreneurial landscape in Nigeria. The findings will contribute to both academic literature and policymaking by shedding light on the practical implications of sustainable development for entrepreneurs, guiding future initiatives to foster inclusive, sustainable, and socially responsible business practices.
Ultimately, this research seeks to provide actionable insights that can inform policymakers, business leaders, and development practitioners on strategies to enhance the positive impact of sustainable development efforts on entrepreneur development in Nigeria. As the country strives to achieve the SDGs, understanding the dynamics between sustainable development and entrepreneurship is crucial for fostering a resilient and equitable economic environment.
