INNOVATION IN CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT: IMPLICATIONS FOR MIGRANT FISHERMEN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
Curriculum changes and innovations is a constant trend in educational development globally. In
Nigeria a new curriculum became functional in September 2014 in Primary 1 and Junior Secondary School called the 9-year Basic Education curriculum. Several innovations in subject content, duplications, and repetitions across subjects were effected. The concern of this paper is the implications of the implementation of this new curriculum on the Migrant Fishermen Educational Programme in the areas of quality learning, Quality Assurance, Security of Personal, support · facilities, adaption of the curriculum to sooth the ecology, environment and occupation of the migrant fishermen education programme and supply of relevant and adapted textual materials, teachers guide, multigrate teaching techniques in migrant schools and others in relation to National Development. Recommendations for successful implementation were made.
