RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EFFECTIVE CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN BIOLOGY IN ANAMBRA WEST L.G.A. OF ANAMBRA STATE, NIGERIA
Abstract. This study investigated the relationship between effective classroom management and students’ academic performance in biology in senior secondary schools in Anambra West Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) of Anambra State, Nigeria with a view to knowing the management strategies teachers do use predominantly in classroom as well as teachers’ abilities towards managing it effectively. The study adopted descriptive correlational design and 100 students drawn across five schools in the LGEA. The sample was drawn through stratified random sampling. Structured questionnaire was the instrument for data collection and its validity as well as reliability established using Crombach alpha coefficient and the index was 0.84. Mean and standard deviation were used in answering the research questions while Pearson product moment correlation analysis was used in testing the hypotheses. The result indicated positive and weak relationship between the independent and dependent variables.
