SOCIO-CULTURAL ORGANIZATION AND INSECURITY IN SOUTHEAST NIGERIA. CHALLENGES FROM THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA

ABSTRACT

This work discusses the socio-cultural organization and insecurity in southeast Nigeria. challenges from the indigenous people of biafra

.A hundred and twenty questionnaires were distributed among people from selected southern states in Nigeria. Interviews and surveys were also conducted.

Primary and secondary data will be used in the analysis. Tables and percentages will also be used as the instrument of analysis

It will be observed therefore that great bias, injustice, sentiments, marginalization, and gross disenfranchisement against people of south-eastern Nigeria which have metamorphosed and metastasized into discontent among teeming young of south eastern Nigeria have led to a a massive connection to indigenous people of Biafra.

Insecurity in South-east is also strongly connected with one-sidedness of refusing to stop Fulani herdsmen incursion into indigenous lands of people of the south-east, in addition to federal governments highly suspicious moves to force southern states to release lands for livestock purposes, a move suspected to be Fulani secretly planned invasion of indigenous lands.

Furthermore, the free use of firearms by Fulani herdsmen which have led to massacres by same group of people, and supported or played down by federal government of Nigeria led to a use of fire arms by ipob to resist Fulani invasion of south-eastern lands.

Insecurity in south-eastern Nigeria is created by a bias from federal government of Nigeria in taking sides with armed Fulani herders and sending security apparatus to hunt down ipob.
