THE ROLE OF PUBLIC HEALTH CAMPAIGN IN REDUCING THE PREVALENCE OF TOBACCO USE AMONG TEENAGERS
Abstract:
This study investigates the role of public health campaigns in reducing the prevalence of tobacco use among teenagers. Tobacco use remains a significant public health concern, especially among adolescents, due to its long-term health implications. The research explores how targeted public health campaigns have influenced awareness, behavior change, and tobacco consumption rates among teenagers. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study collected data through surveys from teenagers and interviews with public health officials in selected communities. The findings reveal that public health campaigns play a crucial role in raising awareness of the dangers of tobacco use, altering social norms, and empowering teenagers to make healthier choices. However, the effectiveness of these campaigns is moderated by factors such as peer pressure, accessibility to tobacco products, and the frequency of the campaigns. The study recommends continuous, multi-platform health education efforts, stricter tobacco regulations, and increased collaboration between schools, governments, and health organizations to sustain the decline in teenage tobacco use.
